Krishna completed his 5-years Integrated M. Sc in Biotechnology at St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, India in the year 2012. Later, he joined as a PhD student in Dr Arunika Mukhopadhaya’s lab at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali, India. During his doctoral research, he investigated the signalling mechanisms underlying the immune responses elicited by innate immune cells upon recognition of Vibrio cholerae outer membrane protein OmpU. He received his PhD degree in August 2020 for his thesis titled ‘Vibrio cholerae OmpU activate distinct signalling cascades in innate immune cells’. He started working in Dr Jennifer Philips lab in August 2020. He is new to the field of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection biology. He is beginning to understand how Mtb employs a plethora of effector proteins to evade the host immune defences, thereby causing tuberculosis disease.
